Lattice QCD at finite density via a new canonical approach

چکیده
We carry out a finite density calculation based on a canonical approach which is designed to address the overlap problem. Two degenerate flavor simulations are performed using Wilson gauge action and Wilson fermions on 4 lattices, at temperatures close to the critical temperature Tc ≈ 170MeV and large densities (5 to 20 times nuclear matter density). In this region, we find that the algorithm works well. We compare our results with those from other approaches.

Composite Reweighting the Glasgow Method for Finite Density QCD
Lattice simulations of dense matter are important for the understanding of future heavy ion collider experiments as well as the equation of state of neutron stars [1][2]. The main obstacle to the numerical evaluation of QCD in this regime is that the lattice action becomes complex with the inclusion of the chemical potential μ, prohibiting naive probabilistic Monte Carlo methods. Recent attempt...
متن کاملFinite Density Algorithm in Lattice QCD – a Canonical Ensemble Approach
I will review the finite density algorithm for lattice QCD based on finite chemical potential and summarize the associated difficulties. I will propose a canonical ensemble approach which projects out the finite baryon number sector from the fermion determinant. For this algorithm to work, it requires an efficient method for calculating the fermion determinant and a Monte Carlo algorithm which ...
متن کاملNew results using the canonical approach to finite density QCD
We present some new results regarding simulations of finite density QCD based on a canonical approach. A previous study has shown that such simulations are feasible, at least on small lattices. In the current study, we investigate some of the issues left open: we study the errors introduced by our approximation of the action and we show how to tune it to reduce the cost of the simulations while...
متن کاملCritical point in finite density lattice QCD by canonical approach
We propose a method to find the QCD critical point at finite density calculating the canonical partition function ZC(T, N) by Monte-Carlo simulations of lattice QCD, and analyze data obtained by a simulation with two-flavor p4-improved staggered quarks with pion mass mπ ≈ 770MeV. It is found that the shape of an effective potential changes gradually as the temperature decreases and a first orde...
متن کاملThe Density of States Method at Finite Chemical Potential
To clarify the phase diagram of QCD and thus the nature of matter under extreme conditions is one of the most interesting and fundamental tasks of high energy physics. Lattice QCD has been shown to provide important and reliable information from first principals on QCD at zero density. However, Lattice QCD at finite densities has been harmed by the complex action problem ever since its inceptio...
